Sir Galahad by ReneAigner Sir Galahad by ReneAigner
I finally succeeded in really finishing a piece for a change. This is Sir Galahad of Arthur's Roundtable. The armour was fun to paint =)
Photoshop.

Nice work! Looks like the myths were right-he doesn't seem to have an ounce of sin in his body!

Amazing work! I have a knight I can't finish because I can't get the armour to look realistic enough, how did you make the armour's texture?

Thank you! There is no trick or secret to it I'm afraid. I used reference and looked for the darkest values and highlights, especially how they created the form. You have to think of armour (especially polished steel) as a kind of mirror-like surface. You should see a lot of scattered light from the environment on it. The scratches and blotches are just tiny little brushstrokes on top of that.

The armour is really superb. You've captured the weight and surface hardness very skilfully.

Thank you tdman! This painting was actually more about the armour than the character I have to admit :D

Thanks again Werebeast! Glad you like it. The detail on the armour was actually less time-consuming than it looks.
